Custom Frameless Glass Railing Installation – Toronto Beaches

About This Project

For this project in the Toronto Beaches area, we installed stunning custom frameless glass railings for a brand-new custom-built home. The client wanted a seamless, modern look for both interior railings and exterior railings on the deck, balcony, and Juliet barrier. We used 12mm clear tempered glass with sleek black standoff hardware, creating a continuous and elegant flow throughout the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Materials Used

• 12mm clear tempered glass panels (extra-long for seamless runs)
• Black standoff hardware (for a frameless, floating appearance)
• Black L-shaped corner brackets (for added stability)
• Hanger bolts and cap nuts (to secure standoffs firmly to the wall)

Our Process

1. Initial Consultation and Quote
The client reached out via Instagram to inquire about glass railings. We promptly provided a project quote and shared photos of past installations to showcase different options.

2. Site Visit and Measurements
We visited the property to take precise measurements, show physical samples, and finalize all details. This stage is crucial for ensuring a custom fit, especially for indoor staircases, outdoor decks, and balconies.

3. Contract, Deposit, and Ordering
Once the design was approved, we signed a contract, collected the deposit, and placed the order for the custom glass panels and hardware.

4. Templating and Fabrication
We returned to the site to create templates for the stairs and outdoor sections. This ensures that the final product fits perfectly. The glass was then custom-cut and tempered to meet safety and design requirements.

5. Installation

• We pre-drilled the walls and installed hanger bolts.
• Mounted black standoffs onto the hanger bolts.
• Hung the glass panels onto the standoffs and tightened them securely with cap nuts.
• Installed L-shaped corner brackets to reinforce the structure, especially at corners
• Carefully leveled the glass for a clean, polished look.

The finished result is a sleek, minimalist railing system that elevates both the interior and exterior design of the home.
